- Under the Lights of Tango
An Intense and Passionate Connection with Every Step. An encounter that begins with a glance, deepens with an embrace, and reaches its fullness in dance. From the first embrace, a silent bond is forged that defines the quality of the connection. Closeness and touch become a language that needs no words. As the dance begins, he sets the rhythm and energy, while she anticipates his movements, creating suspense that denotes her active and shared participation in the dance. Together, they occupy and release spaces on the dance floor, interpreting each other's bodies and capturing emotions: anxiety, surprise, plea, or reservation, in a secret dialogue of gestures and movements. Although they seem to merge into one, it is recognized that two are needed to dance tango. However, the couple alone is not enough; in this celebration, the man and the woman are accompanied by the music, by other couples on the dance floor, by the floor vibrating with the steps of other dancers, and by the gaze, real or imagined, of an audience that supports and approves them. It is a delicate balance of relationships where neither party should impose upon the other. Those who only seek exhibition betray the intimacy of the encounter. And when the experience is exceptional, words are unnecessary; they look at each other almost shyly, moved, or even scared by the depth of mutual commitment. foto Luis Di Landro
- Why Should We Dance Tango?
Regular practice of tango not only improves physical health but also offers a range of additional benefits. It is useful in preventing cardiovascular diseases and overweight, as well as in treating various osteoarticular and postural disorders. Additionally, it promotes neuromuscular actions that regulate blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and triglycerides. "Hugs produce the release of oxytocin. Oxytocin is a hormone that has a huge impact, not only on generating emotional bonds but also on protecting the heart. It is one of the few hormones capable of cutting the axis of chronic stress, the axis of distress, the constant release of cortisol." - Dr. Mario Alonso Puig Tango also contributes to the development of higher neurocognitive functions. By requiring attention to the steps to be performed, exercising memory, and coordinating movement both individually and in pairs, neuronal growth is stimulated, and cognitive skills are strengthened. The medical community has observed that those who enjoy good health often maintain satisfying affective relationships. Physical contact during the embrace in tango dancing is a powerful social stimulus that facilitates mutual recognition. Through dance movements, experiences reminiscent of childhood are reproduced, satisfying basic affective needs. In both tango and life, each couple moves forward and backward, comes close and moves away, embraces firmly and then relaxes. One leads with the feet while the other follows, facing imbalances and overcoming them together, adapting to each other's changing forces and seeking to understand each other. Tango offers the opportunity to be recognized and to recognize, to give and receive space, to accept and be accepted. In summary, it provides an increase in physical activity in an enjoyable and fun way. So, when do we start? Photo by Andreas Wissmann.
- The Power of the Hug
The hug, a gesture that goes beyond words, represents an act of affection and containment by holding another person in your arms. In an increasingly cold and competitive society, hugging becomes a vital necessity to nourish ourselves with energy and connect emotionally. This gesture is healing, demonstrated by its ability to heal and improve our emotional well-being through physical contact. By hugging each other, we revitalize our senses and reaffirm our humanity. Hugging involves bravery in opening ourselves up vulnerably, with the risk of being misunderstood or rejected. However, it also strengthens our ability to share and harmonizes our hearts, generating a kind of addiction to affection and joy. Like laughter, hugging is highly contagious and essential for our emotional well-being. It calms our nerves, relieves tension and strengthens our self-esteem, becoming the embodiment of love between us. We all look for those comforting hugs: from siblings, friends, lovers or parents to children. Hugs enliven the soul, give it essence and fill it with positive energy. Those who have never felt a true hug have not experienced the fullness of calm and peace that is achieved in that magical moment in which the breaths synchronize. The soul has many ways to express what it feels, make the hug one of them... Therefore, dance tango and let yourself be hugged! photo Pablo Pedante
- The Twists and Turns of Life: An Unexpected Encounter that Transcends Borders
In the tapestry of life, we sometimes come across people who leave an indelible mark on our journey. As the famous saying goes, "You never know who you have in front of you and how a simple encounter can speak of an entire lifetime." This is precisely what happened with Lucía, affectionately known as "Flaca" Lucía, and Gerry. Lucía, a charming and adventurous Cordobesa, knows exactly what she wants and pursues her dreams with determination. On the other hand, Gerry, an Irishman with a noble heart and silent wisdom, is one of those loyal types who stay by your side till the end. These two kindred souls met in the city of tango, a magical place where people from different corners of the world come together to dance and embrace in a language that transcends barriers. Amidst an embrace with a stranger, something special happened. Through subtle nods and passionate body language, Lucía and Gerry communicated beyond words, despite her speaking Spanish and him English. That fleeting encounter left a profound impression on both, marking the beginning of a unique connection. However, the story didn't end there. Life had another surprise in store for them. Through coincidences that don't seem so coincidental, they found each other again. Destiny brought them together on a day in 2005, in a tango class in Buenos Aires, where we had the honor of being their teachers. It was then that they marked the date of a new chapter on their calendars, aware that they were part of something special and momentous in their lives. "La Flaca Lucía" fully immersed herself in the world of tango, becoming an authentic Milonguera. With passion and dedication, she organized the renowned Flor de Milonga at Maipú 444, located in the heart of the city. Her invitation to enjoy the music of the people attracted numerous individuals seeking to experience the magic of tango at its finest. It was in this wonderful space that we had the privileged opportunity to perform an exhibition in 2006. Over the years, this beautiful couple has built a life together in Bray, Ireland, Gerry's homeland. From there, they have shared our culture and passion for tango with many through classes and events. The journey continues, and once again, we have the pleasure of being invited to their cultural space to share the beautiful art of dancing tango. The story of Lucía and Gerry serves as a reminder that life is full of unexpected twists and magical encounters. We are delighted to be invited by La Flaca Lucia and Gerry, this time to the beautiful city of Bray, Ireland. September 10-18, 2023 Info: luciaygerry@gmail.com
- Nuestro logo
- Our Logo
Our logo emerges from the quest to find our identity, an image that characterizes us, displaying simplicity, elegance, and good taste. The initials of our names were essential, the seal of our individual selves merged with each other... That essence found in tango... two individuals who, when dancing, become one! Moreover, it should be circular, reflecting an energy in motion, one without a beginning or end, infinite. In our search for the right logo, we explored numerous possibilities, but the chosen one came from an option our designer had discarded or found less appealing. Gonzalo, with his keen eyes for detail, saw beyond the obvious and discovered that this logo held a multitude of possibilities; it transformed depending on how you looked at it. Depending on the logo's position, the silhouette of our beloved country becomes visible, which was significant to us since our work represents our culture. Furthermore, with its cursive font, it portrays the fluidity of movement in dance and forms the foundation of our methodology. Lastly, the initials, starting with the letter G (Gonzalo, the mastermind behind our class programs) and the letter M (Mariel, the creative one), can be read as MG or GM, depending on the reader's perspective. This showcases the flexibility and the importance of both parts: a creative base leads to a successful mind, while a precise mind inspires the creativity of the base.

- Volver...
As the famous tango says, Volver, by Carlos Gardel and Alfredo Lepera: "Feel, that life is a breath, That 20 years is nothing..." And although it is true that 20 years may seem little in the grand scheme of things have meant EVERYTHING to us. Our journey began in 1999 in our beloved hometown of Santa Fe, but it was in September of 2003 that we took the big step into the vibrant city of Buenos Aires. They say that time is what gives us experience, and it has been so in our case. We can identify three important milestones on our way. In the first place, we had the privilege of working in several tango schools in the Federal Capital, where we had the great opportunity to start a successful tango studio, which has inspired many to work as a team and dedicate themselves to teaching this beautiful dance. After traveling extensively through many countries around the world, the second great opportunity comes to us. We take our talent beyond borders, successfully developing our class program in Bern, Switzerland for 12 years. This achievement attracted more than 1,500 people who experienced the pleasure of dancing tango for the first time, and we were filled with satisfaction to be able to expand the tango community in that city. However, our greatest achievement was the realization of our dream: to establish our own school. GM Tango was the result of years of hard work, and reaching this goal made us feel like we were on top of the mountain. From that moment on, new projects and desires to fulfill arose. Boldly, we fly free, with a peaceful heart, back home. In this year 2023, after 20 years, we find ourselves again in a process of reinventing ourselves. We are excited for what is to come, ready to embrace new challenges and continue sharing our passion for tango. Join us on this new leg of our journey!
